Delilah Delacroix is quite literally at the end of her rope when she meets Captain James Stirling, an 18th Century pirate that has somehow managed to travel through time to the 20th Century. Upon the death of her loveable, but freespending uncle, Delilah discovers she is near bankruptcy and stands to lose her only source of income, the rundown Key West art gallery he left her. She has no money for her college tuition, and her husband is leaving her for a Man. Certain that nothing short of suicide could be a possible solution, she decides to do the deed on Halloween night, during the biggest celebration on the island. James appears in the nick of time, and thwarts Delilah's plan. In the space of less than 24 hours, "Smiling Jim," turns her life upside down and gives her a new reason to live. . . and the courage to love again.

The story starts out in the present day, then they both return to 1719. Even Delilah's dog goes to the past. I love how Delilah stays true to herself and does not allow anyone to push her around. I think she took big chances when she was so aggressive to some pirates she met. James was portrayed just as I imagined. Tall, striking and hot. Deep down, he is a sweet guy who wants to bring honor to his family and himself. The author did a fine job with her descriptive imagery, it helped put me there in my imagination. The plot was smooth and interesting. I had a hard time putting the book down. - Theresa B.Product details
